Library Media Curriculum


Literature Appreciation

The student will:

  • Experience and engage in a variety of literature representing a variety of genre and text structure (Informational/Expository, Narrative/Literary, Technical/Procedural, Response/Reflective).
  • Experience a variety of literature, including classics and award winners, for both informational and recreational needs.
  • Experience a variety of authors’ and illustrators’ styles.
  • Experience and enjoy reading as a leisure activity.

 

 Information Literacy

The student will:

  • Locate materials appropriate to level.
  • Demonstrate developmentally appropriate communication skills.
  • Select appropriate materials in the library media center.
  • Identify parts of a book: title, author, cover, and spine.

 

 Independent Learning

The student will:

  • Select appropriate materials from a variety of authors for leisure reading and to meet information needs.
  • Know that literature can be experienced through various media, such as print, audiovisual, live performance, etc.

 

 Social Responsibility

The student will:

  • Be a responsible library user.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to district policies and building rules regarding ethical and responsible use of computers and network resources.
